Donald L. Dyer is Associate Dean for Faculty & Academic Affairs and Distinguished Professor of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi's College of Liberal Arts. He co-directs the Arabic Language Flagship Program and Chinese Language Flagship Program, while also serving as editor of the journals Balkanistica and Romance Monographs.
Education:

His research focuses on Slavic and Balkan linguistics, particularly Bulgarian, Romanian dialects of Moldova, and language contact phenomena. He has published extensively on topics like word order, determinedness, and the sociolinguistic impact of historical events on language evolution in Eastern Europe.
Dr. Dyer's recent publications highlight ongoing interests in Balkan sprachbund dynamics, Moldovan linguistic identity, and computational approaches to syntax. His work bridges theoretical linguistics with political and cultural analysis, particularly regarding language standardization in post-Soviet states.
