Donald Houston

Donald Houston, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine. He holds multiple leadership roles: Course Director for the Blood and Immunology undergraduate medical course, Site Director for the Hematology Residency Training Program at Health Sciences Centre, and Research Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. Clinically, he practices at CancerCare Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre.

Research Focus: Dr. Houston's work spans hematologic malignancies and disorders, with active projects in bleeding disorders, coagulation dynamics, iron-related anemias, and thrombosis. His expertise includes next-generation sequencing applications in breast cancer, lung cancer, and sarcoma. Research techniques involve functional genomic screens to identify cancer cell mutations and their growth impacts.
