Dr. Donald Hill is a synthetic chemist affiliated with Swansea University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, specializing in adsorbent and functional coating chemistry. His research focuses on developing materials to remove hydrogen sulfide from gas streams, addressing critical issues in waste water treatment, oil/gas industries, and improving quality of life for ostomy patients. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption).
Collaborations include cross-disciplinary work with Professor Shareen Doak's biomedical team and industry partnership with Salts Healthcare Ltd. Current research priorities involve creating durable coatings integrating adsorbent materials to enhance device reliability during manufacturing. This innovation aims to reduce plastic waste from disposable medical devices while improving patient comfort.
Key applications target ostomy devices, wastewater treatment systems, and hydrogen production catalysts. The project combines material science, environmental chemistry, and biomedical safety considerations to create sustainable solutions with both clinical and industrial impact.
