معرفی
Professor Donald Craig is a distinguished academic in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, holding a Personal Chair since 2000. He has been affiliated with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and is a prominent figure in organic synthesis, particularly in natural product synthesis and pericyclic processes. His research focuses on developing novel methodologies like decarboxylative Claisen rearrangements and aziridine-based syntheses.
Education: BSc (1983) and PhD (1986) in Chemistry from Imperial College London. Postdoctoral work at Columbia University (1986-87). Academic career includes roles as Lecturer (1987), Reader (1997), and Professor (2000).
Research interests span organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and synthetic methodology. Notable contributions include the synthesis of alstonerine and lepadiformine, and pioneering work on Claisen rearrangement reactions. His group emphasizes innovative approaches to complex molecule synthesis, leveraging pericyclic reactions and sulfur-based chemistry.
Awards include the Corday-Morgan Medal (1998), ZENECA Award (1994), and Glaxo Wellcome Award (1996). He advises numerous PhD and graduate students, with former members now in academia and industry. The Craig Group is affiliated with the Agri Futures Lab and the Synthesis and Catalysis research cluster.
Labs/Teams: Craig Group, Imperial College London’s Chemistry Department, collaborating on synthetic organic chemistry, natural product synthesis, and method development.
