Donald Buth

His research interests encompass:

• Systematics and evolution of reptiles and fishes (cypriniform, gasterosteiform, perciform)
• Phylogenetic relationships at alpha (species limits), beta (interspecific), and gamma (intraspecific) levels
• Use of allozyme and morphometric/meristic data for cladistic analyses
• Development of enzymatic technology and phylogenetic treatment of electrophoretic data

He maintains a laboratory equipped for osteological and karyological studies, conducts cladistic analyses using both PC and mainframe systems, and advises students on fish systematics with emphasis on North American ichthyofauna including cypriniform, scorpaeniform, perciform, and elasmobranch fishes.
