Donald Babcock is Professor of Trombone and Jazz in the School of Music and Dance at Eastern Michigan University, serving as Admissions Coordinator while maintaining an active performance career as principal trombone of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and performing with the Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Kalamazoo Symphonies.
His educational background includes:

- MM, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
- BA in Music and BA in Mathematics, Lawrence University
Dr. Babcock's research and performance interests focus on trombone artistry across classical and jazz idioms, evidenced by his work in silent film scores, classical recordings, and jazz performances. As an active International Trombone Association member, he bridges academic instruction with professional artistry through regular radio broadcasts and regional convention appearances.
He directs the EMU Trombone Studio and Jazz Ensemble programs, mentoring students through applied trombone instruction and ensemble participation while coordinating admissions for the School of Music and Dance, significantly contributing to Michigan's musical ecosystem through performance and pedagogy.
