Donal Skinner is the Dean of the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College and a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas. Previously, he held leadership roles including Dean of the Honors College at Ohio University (2019–2023) and the University of Wyoming (2017–2019). He earned a PhD in Neuroendocrinology from the University of Cambridge, following BSc degrees in Zoology & Computer Science (Rhodes University) and Physiology (University of the Witwatersrand).
His research focuses on reproductive neuroendocrinology, particularly hormonal regulation of puberty, GnRH mechanisms, and wildlife contraception. Notable studies include investigating salt’s role in puberty timing and developing non-lethal coyote contraception. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and secured grants like NIH funding for 'Sex and Salt: Is there a Link?'
Skinner has received multiple accolades, including the College of Arts & Sciences Top 10 Teaching Award (2015) and the Society for Endocrinology Award (2013). He actively contributes to academic governance, serving on committees for Ohio University and the University of Wyoming, and advises the Physiology Club. His editorial roles include membership on Frontiers in Endocrinology and Journal of Endocrinology boards.
Skinner’s work bridges basic science and applied research, with projects on developmental programming and neuroendocrine pathways. He remains a sought-after speaker, delivering TEDx talks on topics like 'Wired on Steroids,' and mentors students in both laboratory and field research initiatives.
