Don Ross is a sessional faculty member at the University of Alberta and Alberta College Conservatory, with additional teaching roles at MusiCamp Alberta and The King's University College. He holds a BMus from the University of Alberta, an Artist Diploma from the University of Toronto, and an M.Mus from Northwestern University.
As a clarinetist, he performs across multiple genres—classical with Saint Crispin's Chamber Ensemble, jazz with Billie Zizi and the Gypsy Jive, world music with the Gadjo Collective, and experimental works with Mile Zero Dance, Boreal Electroacoustic Society, and New Music Edmonton. He participates in over 100 freelance performances annually and has extensive orchestral experience with groups like the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Opera Nuova.
His recent compositions include scores for dance and film, such as Robert Moberg's The Plateau and John Osborne's Patternicity, alongside electroacoustic works featured in the Unsound 2 anthology. His Lines for Clarinet won second prize at the Punta y Raya Festival in Portugal and was selected for Prairie Tales 14.
