Don Latham is a Professor at Florida State University's College of Communication & Information (CCI). He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia and advanced degrees in Library and Information Science (LIS) from FSU. His research focuses on information literacy, youth information behavior, and young adult literature. Latham has led multiple grants funded by organizations like IMLS and CRC, investigating interventions for non-proficient students and teacher-librarian collaborations to teach 21st century skills.

Research interests span peritextual literacy frameworks, nonfiction book clubs for adolescents, and critical thinking through STEAM texts. He co-authored Young Adult Resources Today and David Almond: Memory and Magic, with edited volumes on information literacy frameworks. Teaching focuses on children/young adult information needs, graphic novels, and LIS foundations.
Grants include a $415k IMLS project (2008-2011) addressing below-proficient students' information literacy needs and a $47k IMLS grant (2013-2015) exploring librarian-teacher collaborations in STEM education. His work emphasizes bridging K-12 and higher education gaps in literacy development.
Latham collaborates extensively with Melissa Gross and Shelbie Witte, advancing evidence-based interventions and pedagogical frameworks. He serves on ALISE, ALA, ACRL, YALSA, and the Children's Literature Association.
