Don Bernard Zagier is a Distinguished Staff Associate at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) since October 2014 and has been the Director of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn since 1995. Previously, he served as a Professor at the Collège de France (2000–2014) and held professorial positions at Utrecht University, Kyushu University, and the University of Maryland. He earned his D.Phil. from Oxford University in 1972 and completed his habilitation in Bonn in 1975.
Research Interests:
His primary area of research is Number Theory, where he has made groundbreaking contributions. His work spans algebraic number theory, modular forms, and arithmetic geometry, significantly advancing the understanding of L-functions and special values.
