Domnica Radulescu

Domnica Radulescu is the Edwin A. Morris Professor of Comparative Literature at Washington and Lee University (W&L), where she has served since 1992. Her academic and creative work focuses on migration, trauma, feminist theory, and theater. She holds a BA from Loyola University of Chicago and MA/PhD from the University of Chicago.

Radulescu is a prolific author of scholarly books, novels, and plays. Her works include the novel Train to Trieste and the memoir Dream in a Suitcase. She co-founded W&L’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program and directs the National Symposium of Theater in Academe, a major interdisciplinary theater conference.

Her research emphasizes immigrant/refugee narratives, intergenerational trauma, and cultural hybridity. Recent publications include Tu viens du pays des vampires (2025), a French novel exploring trauma and resilience, and Immigrant Voices in the Pandemic (2023), an anthology on displacement during the pandemic.

Award-winning playwright, Radulescu’s plays like Exile Is My Home and The Town with Very Nice People blend humor and critique to address social justice issues. She has received a Fulbright Fellowship and the SCHEV 2011 Outstanding Faculty Award.
