Dominique Michaud is a Professor in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He holds a Doctor of Science in Epidemiology from Harvard University (1998) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania (1992). His research focuses on cancer etiology, particularly pancreatic, brain, and bladder cancers, with an emphasis on the roles of inflammation, infection, the immune system, and the oral microbiome in cancer development.
He is Principal Investigator on grants from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies, investigating immune response mechanisms, DNA methylation biomarkers, and microbiome dynamics in cancer risk. Notable projects include studies on periodontal disease’s link to systemic cancers, the role of microbial communities in ulcerative colitis, and epigenetic profiling in high-risk populations. His teaching includes courses like Cancer Epidemiology & Prevention and Intermediate Epidemiology.
