Dominique Deslandres is a Full Professor in the Department of History at the Université de Montréal, specializing in early modern European and Atlantic history with a focus on socio-religious identities and gender. She co-founded the Centre d'Études des Religions (CERUM) and contributes extensively to research on French colonialism, missionary work, and Indigenous interactions.
- Education: PhD in History (Université de Montréal, 1990), MA in History (McGill University, 1985), BA (Honours) in History (McGill University, 1982).
Her research explores identity construction through comparative socio-religious mentalities in Europe and the Americas (16th–18th centuries), emphasizing gender, cultural exchange, and colonial power dynamics. She has directed numerous studies on topics like French views of the Ottoman Empire, Indigenous agency, and spiritual autobiographies. Recent projects include analyzing child enslavement in Montreal and digitizing historical archives.
Professor Deslandres has received the Prix d'excellence de l'IHAF and collaborates with research centers such as CRILCQ and CRIHN. She supervises graduate students in areas spanning gender and justice, missionary strategies, and colonial memory.
