Dominique Damais-Thabut

Professor Dominique Damais-Thabut serves as Vice-Dean for Academic Careers at Sorbonne University and Head of the Hepato-Gastroenterology Department at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital (GH AP-HP-Sorbonne-Université). Appointed Professor of Hepato-Gastroenterology in 2014 following academic mobility at the Mayo Clinic, she has dedicated her career to advancing clinical hepatology while strengthening hospital-university professional pathways.

Her clinical and research expertise centers on serious liver diseases within Hepato-Gastroenterology, with growing emphasis on systemic support for academic medical careers. She champions the integration of clinical practice, research, and teaching as fundamental pillars of hospital-university professions, actively working to reverse declining career attractiveness through institutional reforms.

As Vice-Dean, she spearheads two transformative initiatives:

• Post-appointment career monitoring: Conducting individual interviews with newly appointed hospital-university staff (MCU-PH/PU-PH) 4-5 years post-appointment to evaluate clinical, research, teaching, and managerial progress
• Global mobility ecosystem: Implementing pre-mobility support (administrative/financial) and post-mobility reintegration programs to protect research continuity and foster international collaborations after return from assignments
