Dominic Gißler

Professor Dominic Gißler serves as Program Director for the B.Sc. in Management in Civil Defense and M.Sc. in Leadership in Civil Protection and Crisis Management at Akkon University of Human Sciences. As Professor for Leadership in Civil Protection, he teaches core courses in incident command systems, operations research, and crisis management frameworks across both degree programs.

Academically, Gißler earned his doctorate (Dr. rer. sec.) from Bergische Universität Wuppertal focusing on staff work effectiveness. His scholarly foundation includes specialized Security Sciences training with concentrations in Crisis Management methodologies.

Research centers on leadership system performance in civil protection contexts, examining operational characteristics during disasters and cross-institutional coordination frameworks. Current work involves a lab-based staff work experiment for thesis projects launching in Winter Semester 2025/26 with industry partners, analyzing collaborative intelligence systems in crisis response scenarios.
