Professor Dolapo Adeniji-Neill is a faculty member at Adelphi University’s School of Education within the Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, and an M.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from The American University in Cairo. Her expertise spans Adolescent Social Studies Education, Ethnography, and Multicultural Education.
Her research focuses on parental expectations in education, Nigerian and Nigerian American communities, and sociocultural influences on educational opportunities. Notable works include Written in Her Own Voice: Ethno-educational Autobiographies of Women in Education (2016) and Indigenous concepts in education (2014). She has received a Faculty Development Grant for her work on Nigerian women’s life histories.
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes fostering critical thinking through collaborative environments, drawing on theorists like Paulo Freire and Jane Addams. She has contributed to urban education reform and online learning strategies, advocating for inclusive pedagogies. Professional memberships include AERA, NCSS, and NERA.
