Do Thi-Thu-Trang

Do Thi-Thu-Trang is an Associate Professor at Paris Cité University's School of Languages, Cultures, and Arts of the Orient and the World (UFR LCAO), where she has been teaching since 2018. She is a member of the ALTAE laboratory and specializes in Vietnamese linguistics with a focus on French-Vietnamese comparative studies. Her academic journey began with a lecturer position at the University of Languages and International Studies – National University of Vietnam in Hanoi from 2007-2011 before moving to her current position in Paris.

Her research interests include Vietnamese linguistics, French-Vietnamese comparative linguistics, language teaching methodologies, and argumentation. She has made significant contributions to the study of concessive expressions in both French and Vietnamese, tonal assimilation in Vietnamese, and discourse markers. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical language teaching applications, particularly in Vietnamese as a foreign language.

Dr. Do's publications over the past decade reveal a strong focus on contrastive linguistics between French and Vietnamese, with particular attention to discourse markers, concessive expressions, and Vietnamese grammar. Her research methodology often employs corpus linguistics approaches, analyzing both spoken and written language data. Recent work has expanded into language teaching applications, particularly for Vietnamese learners.

She actively supervises Master's students at multiple institutions including Paris Cité University and INALCO, with current supervisees working on topics ranging from Vietnamese tones to digital technology in Vietnamese language education. Her teaching portfolio is extensive, covering Vietnamese language instruction at all levels from introductory courses to advanced research methodology seminars.

Dr. Do also participates in academic organization, having co-organized events such as the 2024 Study Day on Teaching and Design of Vietnamese Textbooks and the 2019 International Conference on The Vietnamese Language: history, linguistics, literature. Her collaborative work with Dao Huy Linh on Vietnamese linguistics and language teaching materials demonstrates her commitment to building academic partnerships.
