Dmytro Bozhko is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Energy Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), part of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He joined UCCS in 2019 following postdoctoral research in Germany and the UK as a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow. Dr. Bozhko directs the Microwave Magnonics Group, collaborating with industrial and academic partners to advance quantum technologies.
Research Focus: His work explores fundamental and applied magnetism, specializing in quantum magnonics, spintronics, and hybrid electromagnetic systems. The research examines macroscopic quantum phenomena like quasiparticle Bose-Einstein condensates, with experimental approaches to magnon-phonon interactions and nonlinear wave dynamics in magnetic materials.
Recent Publications: The group's 2025 publications demonstrate expertise in advanced magnonics techniques, including electrical detection of magnon pulses, frequency comb generation in artificial spin ices, and spectroscopic mapping of magnon-phonon interactions – reflecting consistent focus on quantum magnetic phenomena measurement methodologies.
Awards and Recognition:
- NSF CAREER Award
- Department of Energy FAIR Initiative
- Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation)
- IEEE NAP 2024 Nanoscience as Art Contest Winner
Student Development: Actively mentors students at all levels, with undergraduates like NSF Graduate Fellow Kaitlin McAllister achieving national recognition. The lab welcomes students through UCCS Undergraduate Research Academy and NSF fellowship programs.
Laboratory: Leads the Microwave Magnetics Group with facilities in ENGR and OCSE buildings, focusing on experimental magnonics and quantum materials research.
