Leontiev's research interests span multiple interconnected domains within psychology, with particular emphasis on Positive Psychology, Existential Psychology, and the study of meaning in life. His work explores how individuals construct meaning, manage uncertainty, and develop psychological resilience. He has made significant contributions to understanding self-regulation mechanisms, personality resources, and the transition from disease-focused to health-focused psychological approaches. His research often bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, particularly in educational and organizational contexts.
Analysis of Leontiev's recent publications reveals a strong focus on the intersection of existential concerns with positive psychological frameworks. His work increasingly examines how individuals cope with uncertainty, construct meaning in challenging circumstances, and develop psychological resources that support well-being. A notable trend is his development of assessment tools like the Noëtic Orientations Test (NOT), which adapts purpose-in-life measurement for Russian contexts, demonstrating his commitment to cross-cultural psychological research.
