Dmitri Gallow is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern California (effective August 2024). Before joining USC, he held visiting positions at the National University of Singapore and previously worked at the Dianoia Institute of Philosophy, the University of Pittsburgh, and New York University. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2014.
His research focuses on the metaphysics of causation and chance, rational norms governing credence and choice, and their interconnections. He also maintains teaching interests in philosophy of science, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of language, philosophy of economics, and logic.
Gallow has presented widely on topics such as decision theory under foreknowledge, two-dimensional chance deference, and model-invariant causation. His talks include conferences at institutions like Rutgers University, the University of Helsinki, and Carnegie Mellon University. He has also authored lecture materials for advanced courses in Bayesian epistemology, modal logic, and metaontology, as well as introductory courses in logic and philosophy.
His work emphasizes formal methods in philosophy, with a particular focus on integrating metaphysical and epistemological inquiries. He has conducted research on belief updating for epistemic externalists, causal modeling, and the relationship between learning and value change.
