Divya Parmar is a Senior Lecturer in Global Health at the Population Health Sciences department. Her research focuses on global health systems, universal health coverage, health financing, and the intersection of gender/socioeconomic factors with healthcare access in low- and middle-income countries. She has held roles at the World Health Organization and contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Her work includes grants from MRC, ESRC, and UK’s Global Challenges Research Fund.
- Education: PhD in Public Health from Heidelberg University (2012)
Research Interests: She examines how gender and socioeconomic disparities affect healthcare utilization, with a focus on maternal/adolescent health, NCDs, and health system resilience during crises like the pandemic. Her recent work includes studies on Ghana’s adolescent health services, India’s health insurance gender dynamics, and pandemic responses in Sierra Leone.
Projects: She leads initiatives such as the IMPACT program to improve indigenous adolescent mental health and a UK-based study using AI to reduce NHS winter pressures. She co-investigates kidney failure risk calculations in diverse populations and health equity in Brazil.
Professional Roles: She is a Section Editor for Globalization and Health since 2012 and previously served as a Senior Technical Consultant on UHC at WHO (2019).
