معرفی
Dirk Schübeler is a Senior Group Leader at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Basel since 2011. His research focuses on gene regulation, chromatin dynamics, and epigenomic mechanisms.
- Education: M.Sc. (Diplom-Biologe) and Ph.D. (summa cum laude) from Technical University Braunschweig, Germany.
His work explores how DNA methylation, chromatin structure, and transcriptional regulators shape genome-wide patterns. Studies include Stem cell differentiation, replication timing, and epigenetic inheritance, often leveraging Drosophila and mammalian models.
Key scientific contributions are highlighted by ERC Starting Investigator Grant (2008), EMBO Young Investigator (2006), and awards from the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation. His lab has published extensively in top-tier journals like Nature and Cell.
Honors and Awards:
- Graduate fellowship Foundation of the German Chemical Industry (VCI) (1995-1997)
- Förderpreis of the GBF, thesis award (1997)
- Postdoctoral fellowships (DFG 1998-2000, RSRF 2000-2002)
- EMBO Young Investigator (2006)
- Friedrich-Miescher-Price (2007)
- ERC Starting Investigator Grant (2008)
- Privatdozent (2009)
- Adjunct Professor (2011)
- VIVA Award (2011)
- Academia Europaea member (2012)
- ESCI Award for Excellence (2014)
His lab at FMI investigates epigenetic regulation, focusing on chromatin-modifying enzymes, DNA methylation patterns, and genomic replication mechanisms. Collaborations with institutions like the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Basel underpin his interdisciplinary work.
