Dirk Roland Haupt is a Researcher in Public International Law and a Doctoral student at the Department of Law, Lund University. His research focuses on nuclear nonproliferation, international legal frameworks, and strategic security issues. He has published extensively on topics including NATO law, buffer zones in international conflicts, and the implications of nuclear doctrines on geopolitical alliances. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Key projects include a study on nuclear nonproliferation scenarios and implementation challenges (2017–2019). He has served on advisory panels, including a recent role in a non-governmental policy evaluation group since 2024 and a deputy membership in a similar panel (2013–2022).
Haupt received the prestigious Kungliga Krigsvetenskapsakademiens belöningsmedalj in 2014 for academic and scholarly excellence. His research integrates legal analysis with real-world security challenges, emphasizing the interplay between international law and strategic state behavior.
