Prof. Dirk Battenfeld holds the Chair of Marketing and Controlling at the Department of Economics, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences. He served as Vice Rector (2021–2022) and Dean of the Business School (2014–2021). His academic career includes habilitation in Business Administration (2004) and a PhD in Economics (1997) from the University of Münster, alongside a Mathematics diploma (1991) from the University of Münster.
His research focuses on market research and marketing controlling, particularly interdisciplinary areas between controlling and other business disciplines. Current priorities include organic product brand choice behavior and social banking interest preferences. Key contributions include studies on social banking market dynamics and sustainable clothing consumer behavior.
Publications span academic journals like Journal of Business Ethics and Journal of Cleaner Production, as well as textbooks on pricing and market research. He has collaborated with institutions like zeb/rolfes.schierenbeck.associates and Puls Marktforschung GmbH on projects like the Social Banking Study 2012.
Professional experience includes roles at Continental AG's Controlling department and research positions at FernUniversität Hagen and the University of Münster's Institute for Retail Management.
