Dipa Sarkar

Associate Professor Dipa Sarkar is affiliated with Queensland University of Technology (QUT), holding a position in the School of Economics & Finance within the Faculty of Business & Law. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy from Southern Methodist University. Her research focuses on Development Economics and Behavioural Economics, particularly in education and health, employing rigorous causal analysis and experimental methods. She has conducted studies in Australia and India, collaborating with industry partners and securing funding from entities like The International Growth Centre and iMOVE Australia CRC.

Her work involves interdisciplinary collaborations and has been published in journals such as the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and Health Economics. She serves as Co-editor for Economic Analysis and Policy, a Q1 journal, and chairs academic conferences like the Australasian Development Economics Association. She has received prestigious awards, including the 2019 Best Research Paper Award from the Australian Health Economics Society and recognition at the 2016 Frontiers of Science Symposium.

Prof Sarkar supervises doctoral and master’s students, mentoring research on topics like labour market performance, child health programs, and pro-natal policies.
