Dinesh Gauri is the Melvin H. Baker Professor of Marketing and Director of the Center for Marketing Analysis at the School of Management, University at Buffalo. His research focuses on retailing, pricing strategies, consumer behavior, and social media marketing. He holds a PhD from the University at Buffalo, alongside an MA and MS from the same institution and the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.
Professor Gauri teaches courses in retailing, brand management, and marketing strategy. His research has been published in top journals like Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of Retailing. Notable studies include analyzing discount strategies' impact on sales, food purchasing behavior in SNAP households, and innovations in retail delivery.
His work often bridges academic research with practical insights for businesses, such as optimizing cruise industry pricing and understanding consumer responses to retail store closures. He serves on editorial boards for key marketing journals and has received awards for mentoring and research excellence.
Professor Gauri’s affiliations include the American Marketing Association and INFORMS. His research group explores emerging trends in omnichannel retailing, digital marketing, and consumer decision-making processes.
