Dina Moawad is a Research Fellow at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, currently working on the 'STAPLES' project focused on food access, pricing, and resilience to shocks. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Naples Parthenope, an Advanced Master’s in Agriculture Political Economy from the University of Naples Federico II, a Master’s in Development Economics from Florence University, and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from Egypt.
Her research emphasizes shocks affecting Agrifood Global Value Chains and human mobility, examining economic, social, and political impacts of crises like climate change, natural disasters, and pandemics. She previously worked at King’s College London, the FAO in Rome, and the IIASA in Austria. Her interdisciplinary work bridges economics, food security, and environmental policy.
Key projects include analyzing global food systems resilience and the interplay between external shocks and human migration patterns. She contributes to international organizations and academic collaborations, addressing systemic vulnerabilities in agrifood systems and climate adaptation strategies.
