Dina Babushkina

Dina Babushkina is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy of Technology & Society at the University of Twente, affiliated with the BMS Faculty (Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences) and specifically the Section of Philosophy. She also serves as a Research Fellow with the Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies program. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the RADAR research group at the University of Helsinki, where she worked on responsible AI in healthcare, and maintains active research collaborations with this group.

She holds dual PhDs: one in History of Philosophy (focusing on Idealism and existentialism) and another in Ethics (specializing in moral psychology and normative ethics).

Her research integrates philosophy, ethics, epistemology, psychology, and philosophical anthropology to examine:

• Human-AI interaction dynamics, particularly AI's role in interpersonal relationships
• Transformations of personhood and agency through AI/data-mining technologies (digital twins, identity hybridization)
• AI-mediated life experiences in relationships and lived environments

Applied domains include healthcare robotics, psychotherapy (patient perspective), companionship AI, and urban AI systems.

She actively contributes to the 4TU.Ethics research community and maintains collaborations with the University of Helsinki's RADAR group.
