Dimitrij Umansky

Dimitrij Umansky is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Management, Culture and Technology Faculty (MKT) of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. He holds a Master's in Political Communication from the University of Cape Town and is currently pursuing a PhD at Freie Universität Berlin. His research focuses on citizen participation in infrastructure projects, particularly energy grid expansion in Lower Saxony through the Net Future Niedersachsen initiative.

Key areas include risk communication strategies, stakeholder engagement methodologies, and public administration communication. He has conducted 28 guideline interviews with 42 representatives from project developers, regulatory authorities, and municipal bodies to analyze communication challenges and trust-building mechanisms. His work bridges communication theory with practical policy implementation, emphasizing mutual understanding between stakeholders.

Teaching responsibilities include courses on citizen participation, risk communication, international branding, and communication for social change. He has organized workshops on diversity and social engagement, integrating experiential learning methods. His research outputs combine qualitative approaches like conversation analysis with grounded theory frameworks.

Umansky's interdisciplinary approach addresses societal challenges through transdisciplinary public relations research and communities of practice models in higher education.
