Dimitar Nikolov, PhD, is a Professor and Member of the Structural Biology Program at the Sloan Kettering Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His research focuses on structural and molecular mechanisms of cell-cell interactions and signal transduction, particularly in the nervous system. He earned his PhD in 1996 from The Rockefeller University and holds MSc and BS degrees from the University of Sofia.
Research interests include axon guidance molecules, receptor-ligand interactions, and the development of anti-cancer agents targeting ADAM proteases and Eph receptors. Techniques employed include X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and biophysical/biochemical analyses.
Recent publications highlight advancements in understanding neurite outgrowth inhibition, ADAM17 targeting for cancer therapy, and Eph receptor multimeric assembly. The lab also explores tumor-specific monoclonal antibodies and structural insights into angiopoietin signaling.
Open postdoctoral positions are available through MSK’s Career Center. No significant scientific awards are explicitly listed, though contributions to structural biology and cancer research are notable.
