معرفی
Dimitar D. Sasselov is the Phillips Professor of Astronomy at Harvard University and Director of the Harvard Origins of Life Initiative. He works at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in the Department of Astronomy. His research spans astrophysics, cosmology, and astrobiology, focusing on exoplanets, stellar physics, and the early universe.
- Education: PhD in Physics (Sofia University, 1988), PhD in Astronomy (University of Toronto, 1990)
- Key projects: Exoplanets, NASA Kepler mission, RECFAST, DIRECT, MOST
His research explores radiation-matter interactions, including hydrogen/helium recombination in the early universe and exoplanet discovery techniques. He developed the RECFAST code for cosmological recombination calculations. His work impacts understanding of cosmic microwave background anisotropies and the search for Earth-like exoplanets.
He authored the book The Life of Super-Earths (Basic Books, 2012) and created the edX online course "Super-Earths and Life."
