معرفی
Dilşad ÖZERKAN is an Associate Professor at Kastamonu University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Genetics and Bioengineering. She has held academic positions at Kastamonu University since 2010 and at Istinye University from 2019-2022. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Ankara University (2003-2007), followed by a Master's degree in Biology (2007-2010), and culminated with a PhD in Biology from Ankara University (2010-2014).
Dr. Özerkan's research primarily focuses on Cell Biology, with particular emphasis on cancer biology, nanomedicine, and tissue engineering. Her work explores the anticancer potential of various compounds and nanoparticles, including ruthenium-based, silver-based, and albumin-bound nanocarriers. She has made significant contributions to understanding the mechanisms of action against colorectal cancer cells and has investigated natural compounds from mosses and mushrooms for their anticancer properties.
Her publication record shows a clear progression toward nanomedicine applications in cancer therapy, with recent work (2023-2025) focusing on novel nanoparticle formulations, drug delivery systems, and mechanisms of action against various cancer cell lines. The research demonstrates a multidisciplinary approach combining biochemistry, molecular biology, and materials science.
- Thesis with the highest publication score (2016)
As an academic advisor, Dr. Özerkan has supervised multiple Master's students, including Nurhan Gadoğlu (Samır), İpek Ceylan, and Hilal Zengin Köksal, whose theses focused on anticancer nanoparticles, mushroom extracts, and moss species' effects on cancer cells. She has been involved in numerous research projects, particularly those related to anticancer nanoparticles, prostate cancer, and tissue engineering applications. Her work demonstrates strong collaboration with researchers across Turkish universities and international institutions.
