Dietmar Grichnik

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Grichnik is the Vice President and Full Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). He holds leadership roles in academic management, including Dean and Vice-Dean of the School of Management, and directs key centers like the Global Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

His academic journey includes professorships at universities such as WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and Witten/Herdecke University, alongside visiting roles at institutions worldwide. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cologne and holds habilitation in Business Administration.

Grichnik's research focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, decision science, and longevity science, with emphasis on technology entrepreneurship, startup management, and corporate venturing. His work addresses venture financing, investor behavior, and sustainable scaling strategies.

He has received prestigious awards, including the Impact Award from HSG and Best Paper Awards from the Academy of Management. His editorial roles include the Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.

Grichnik actively advises political institutions (OECD, Swiss government), chairs boards (Institute of Media and Communications Management), and contributes to national and international research committees. His teaching spans global platforms, including ETH Zurich and intercultural programs across continents.

He leads major initiatives like the St.Gallen Startup and Corporate Venturing Navigators, combining academic rigor with practical tools for entrepreneurs and corporates.
