معرفی
Dieter Kley is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, a position he has held since March 2004. Previously, he served as Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at the University of Wuppertal, Germany, and Director at the Institute for Chemistry and Dynamics of the Geosphere at Forschungszentrum Jülich from 1985 to 2002.
His educational background includes:
- Diplom in Physics from Universität Bonn (1964)
- PhD in Physical Chemistry from Universität Bonn (1967)
- Venia legendi in Physical Chemistry from Universität Bonn (1973)
Dr. Kley's research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, with particular expertise in water vapor distribution in the upper troposphere and stratosphere. His work bridges atmospheric physics and climate science, contributing to our understanding of fundamental atmospheric processes. His research methodology combines field measurements with theoretical modeling to investigate atmospheric composition.
Professional recognition includes:
- U.S. Department of Commerce Gold Medal (1988)
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Kley has held significant research positions including Deputy Program Leader at NOAA's Atmospheric Sampling Group and Senior Research Chemist at the same institution. He was also appointed as Professeur de l'Académie des Sciènces (Chaire Elf–Aquitaine) in Paris for two academic years (1997-1999).
His early career included research appointments at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he worked with both the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.
