Diego SIMINI is a Full Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Salento, Italy, affiliated with the Department of Humanistic Studies. He holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the consortium of Universities of Pisa, Cagliari, Genoa, and Turin (1994). His career includes roles as a university researcher (1996–2002), Associate Professor (2002–2025), and Full Professor since 2025. He has coordinated the PhD program in Literary, Linguistic, and Cultural Studies (2005–2010) and served as President of the Teaching Council for Foreign Languages and Literatures programs (2010–2020). Since 2023, he has been Deputy Director for Teaching at the Department of Humanistic Studies.
His research focuses on Spanish Golden Age theater, cultural exchanges between Italy and Spain in the 17th century, and 20th-century Spanish and Hispanic-American narrative. He has authored over 100 essays, monographs, translations, and articles. Key contributions include studies on Antonio Fajardo y Acevedo’s comedies and literary translations.
He teaches courses such as Spanish Literature II/III (Bachelor’s) and Spanish Literature (Master’s), emphasizing historical and cultural contexts. His work bridges literary analysis with translation studies, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
