Dr. Diego Muñoz Azócar is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich. He is affiliated with the ERC-funded project Indigeneities in the 21st century (Grant 803302), led by Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Philipp Schorch. His work focuses on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) peoples' decolonization processes, Indigenous rights, and transnational cultural connections.

His research examines the Rapanui's interconnected identities within Chile, the Polynesian Triangle, and international Indigenous rights frameworks. Current work explores how decolonization concepts shape Rapanui self-governance aspirations and cultural continuity.
