Dr. Didem Boyacıoğlu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Özyeğin University. Her research focuses on Late Ottoman and Early Republican architecture, traditional and vernacular architecture, and rural architecture with an emphasis on sustainability. She holds a PhD in History of Architecture from Istanbul Technical University (2013), an MA in Architectural Restoration (2005), and a BArch from Istanbul Technical University (1999).

Her research explores the intersection of architectural history, preservation, and sustainable development, with a focus on Ottoman industrial buildings, rural settlements, and vernacular architecture. She has published extensively in national/international journals, addressing topics like cultural tourism’s impact on rural resilience and the applicability of international village design guidelines in Turkey.
Her articles analyze urban and architectural challenges in historical contexts, including Ottoman factory buildings and rural gentrification in Behramkale. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, blending historical analysis with modern sustainability practices.
