Dicle ÇEVİK

Dicle Çevik serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacognosy at Trakya University Faculty of Pharmacy. Previously, she worked as a Research Assistant at Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy starting in 2014. Her academic credentials include dual bachelor's degrees from Yeditepe University in Pharmacy and Business Administration (with minor), both earned with full scholarships, followed by a PhD in Pharmacognosy from Yeditepe University Institute of Health Sciences.

Dr. Çevik completed her high school education at TED Zonguldak College in 2009. She then pursued dual bachelor's degrees at Yeditepe University, graduating in 2014 with full scholarships for both the Pharmacy program and Business Administration minor. She continued her academic journey at Yeditepe University, earning her PhD in Pharmacognosy in 2019 with a dissertation titled "Isolation of Cytotoxic Compounds from Glycyrrhiza glabra and G. iconica and Investigation of Their Mechanisms of Action."

Her research focuses on pharmacognosy and natural product chemistry, with particular emphasis on cytotoxic compounds derived from medicinal plants, especially Glycyrrhiza species. Dr. Çevik investigates the mechanisms of action of bioactive compounds, conducts quality assessments of herbal products and food supplements, and explores natural product-based treatments for Alzheimer's disease and metabolic syndrome. Her work bridges traditional medicine with modern pharmacological approaches to identify therapeutic compounds from plant sources.

Analysis of her publication record reveals a consistent research trajectory focused on natural product chemistry. Her work demonstrates ongoing investigation of Glycyrrhiza species for cytotoxic compounds, expansion into other medicinal plants like Cornus mas for neurological applications, and growing interest in quality control of herbal products. Recent publications show increasing international collaboration and a shift toward more complex disease models including Alzheimer's disease with metabolic syndrome comorbidity.

Dr. Çevik actively secures research funding, serving as Principal Investigator for multiple projects including "Quality Assessment of Herbal Teas and Herbal Medicinal Products Containing Passiflora incarnata L." and "Isolation of Cytotoxic Compounds from Glycyrrhiza echinata Roots by Bioactivity-Guided Fractionation Method" at Trakya University. She previously participated as a scholar in the TUBITAK 1001 project at Yeditepe University. She is an active member of the Society for Medicinal Plants Research (GA) and the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE).

At Trakya University, Dr. Çevik teaches several courses including Introduction to Natural Compound Chemistry, Pharmacognosy I, Pharmacognosy II Lab, Pharmacognosy III Lab, Phytotherapy, and Chromatographic Separation Techniques, demonstrating her commitment to pharmacognosy education and training future researchers in the field.
