Dicky Bahto

Dicky Bahto is an Adjunct II faculty member in the Film Program at California College of the Arts (CCA). He holds an MFA from the University of California, Riverside (2017) and a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute (2004). His practice spans experimental film, sound art, and performance, often collaborating with musicians like Julia Holter, Sarah Davachi, and Tashi Wada. He has exhibited globally, including at MoMA, LACMA, and The Huntington, and curated programs at institutions like REDCAT and the Echo Park Film Center.

Research interests include interdisciplinary art forms, the intersection of sound and visual media, and site-specific performances. Notable works include Music for a Bellowing Room (2023), Accretions (2012–present), and collaborations such as The Ensemble Whose Name is Uhhhhhmm…. He has received grants from the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Visual Arts and bar-fund LA.

Teaching roles include instruction at Otis College of Art and Design, UC Riverside, and K–12 institutions in Southern California. Current projects include film screenings and performances at venues like Pop Up Cinema Medica (Bologna) and Digital Gym Cinema (San Diego).
