Dr. Dibakar Datta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research focuses on energy storage technologies, particularly in the development of advanced battery systems and nanomaterials for next-generation applications. He leads multiple federally funded projects, including:
- National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER grant for Electro-Chemo-Mechanics of Multiscale Active Materials for Next-Generation Energy Storage (2023–2028)
- NSF grant for Fundamental Study of Niobium Tungsten Oxide Anodes (2021–2024)
- NSF GOALI grant for Roll-to-Roll Atomic Layer Deposition of Selenium-based Battery Cathodes (2019–2023)
His research interests include:
- Design of battery cathodes using graphene and selenium heterostructures
- Electro-chemo-mechanical modeling of active materials
