Dr. Dianna Dempsey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Organizations at MacEwan University. Her research focuses on the intersection of Human Resource Management (HR/OB), entrepreneurship, and gender diversity in STEM environments. She holds a PhD from the University of Alberta, an MA from Queen’s University, and a BA from the University of Guelph. With over 10 years of industry experience in HR, organizational behavior, and change management, Dr. Dempsey is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR Alberta).

Her research explores how HR practices influence entrepreneurial cognitions like self-efficacy in employees, and examines gender disparities in career trajectories within STEM. Current interests include resilience and empathy’s role in career choices, and the impact of employment relationships on career outcomes.
Recent publications address topics such as gender gaps in entrepreneurial confidence, HR practices in family firms, and the development of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks (e.g., high performance work systems) with practical organizational challenges.
