Diane Robinson-Dunn is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. Specializing in cultural systems within imperial contexts from the 19th to mid-20th centuries, her research spans European, Middle Eastern, and South Asian histories. She earned her Ph.D. from Stony Brook University and studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo.
Her research examines cultural encounters across imperial borders, with particular focus on England, France, North Africa, and the Middle East. She explores themes of gender politics and cross-cultural exchanges through historical figures who traversed East-West boundaries.
Dr. Robinson-Dunn has authored significant works including The Harem, Slavery and British Imperial Culture (2006/2014) and An Empire of Many Cultures: Bahá’ís, Muslims, and Jews and the British State 1900-20 (2024), both analyzing imperial systems and religious minority development.
