Diane Marting is a Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi, specializing in Spanish American and Brazilian literature, film, and culture, with a focus on feminist criticism and European-Latin American relations.
- Education: B.A. in Literature (Ohio State, 1975); M.A. (Rutgers, 1980) and Ph.D. (Rutgers, 1987) in Comparative Literature.
Her research explores intersections of gender, politics, and postmodernism in Latin American media, including analyses of Argentine cinema, Cuban film humor, and reproductive justice narratives. She has published extensively in edited volumes, often addressing feminist reinterpretations of cultural and historical contexts.
Marting previously held faculty roles at UCLA and Columbia University, served as Graduate Program Coordinator for French, German, and Spanish at Ole Miss, and teaches courses ranging from Spanish literature and film to gender studies.
