Diane Kelley is a Professor in the Department of French & Francophone Studies at the University of Puget Sound. Her research focuses on early modern French literature and culture, particularly the 17th and 18th centuries, with an emphasis on women writers and material culture.

Kelley’s expertise lies in analyzing works by women writers such as Mme de Lafayette, Catherine Bernard, and Mme de Tencin. Her recent research explores intersections between interior design, museum culture, and literary endings in Graffigny’s Lettres d’une Péruvienne. She also investigates representations of characters of African descent in 18th-century French fiction.
Active in academic publishing, Kelley has contributed to journals like Dalhousie French Studies, New Perspectives on the Eighteenth Century, and Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture. She integrates innovative pedagogical approaches, including Reacting to the Past, to teach language, history, and literature.
