Diane Crawley

Diane Crawley is an Instructor in the Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution, and Economics at the Collat School of Business, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She has been in this role since August 2014. Her professional background includes over 20 years of legal practice in Birmingham, specializing in intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets), corporate IP policies, tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law.

Dr. Crawley holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama (1991) and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University (1994). As a registered patent attorney, she has extensive experience in patent and trademark prosecution, invention patentability analysis, and infringement advisory services.

Her expertise bridges legal, technical, and business domains, focusing on interdisciplinary applications of intellectual property law and corporate governance. Teaching and mentoring activities at UAB reflect her dual background in engineering and law, emphasizing practical solutions for business and legal challenges.
