Prof. Dr. Diana Lange holds the Chair for the History and Cultures of Central Asia at the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Humboldt University of Berlin. Her research bridges historical cartography, material culture, and intercultural exchange across Asia and between Asia-Europe. She has pioneered provenance studies of colonial-era collections like the British Library's Wise Collection and Hamburg's Harrer Collection.

Her recent publications explore color symbolism in Asian maps and the technical evolution of Tibetan transportation systems. She leads the research project Maps as Knowledge Resources and Mapmaking as Process: The Case of the Mapping of Tibet.
