Diana Kapiszewski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University's College of Arts and Sciences and holds a secondary appointment as Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Service (SFS) - Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS). She earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from UC Berkeley (2007), an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University, and additional degrees in Spanish.
Her research focuses on public law, comparative politics, and judicial politics in Latin America. Key areas include high court-elected branch interactions over economic policy, electoral governance institutions, and informal workers' legal strategies in Brazil and Mexico. She co-edited Consequential Courts: Judicial Roles in Global Perspective (2013) and contributes to qualitative research methods through her role co-directing the Qualitative Data Repository and co-editing Cambridge's Methods of Social Inquiry series.
Her work has been honored with prestigious awards, including the APSA C. Herman Pritchett Award for her book High Courts and Economic Governance in Argentina and Brazil (2012) and the APSA Mid-Career Achievement Award (2013). Her publications appear in journals such as Latin American Politics and Society and Law & Society Review.
Dr. Kapiszewski collaborates on interdisciplinary projects, including an upcoming textbook on field research methods in political science. Her work bridges academic contributions to policy-relevant analyses of legal and political institutions in Latin America.
