Diana Aldrete is an Assistant Professor of Language and Culture Studies and Human Rights at Trinity College since 2015. Her interdisciplinary work bridges literary studies, environmental humanities, and social justice advocacy. She holds a Ph.D. from the University at Albany-SUNY, an M.A. from Marquette University, and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Her research examines intersections of contemporary Mexican/Latinx literature, border studies, and feminist/queer theory, with a focus on anti-feminicidal activism and environmental justice. Current projects include a monograph Between Land and Death: Women Writing for Justice in Mexico, analyzing how literature challenges gendered violence, and an ecofeminist art series Ech.o Locations exploring Great Lakes ecologies.
An interdisciplinary artist and educator, Aldrete’s visual art has been exhibited in Connecticut institutions, including her 2022 solo show Invisible Suffering at Charter Oak Cultural Center. Her art projects often address ecological and social justice themes, supported by grants like the Free Center’s Independent Artist Fund.
Teaching spans community colleges, liberal arts colleges, and research universities, emphasizing pedagogical innovation and cultural critique. Her work connects academic research with public-facing art to amplify marginalized narratives.
