Di Wu is a Departmental Lecturer and Visiting Fellow at the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, University of Oxford. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the London School of Economics (LSE), an MSc from LSE, an LLM from the University of Southampton, and an LLB from China University of Political Science and Law. His research focuses on Chinese migrant communities in Zambia, examining labor disputes, cross-cultural communication, and community-building processes. He has expanded his work to investigate the spread of Chinese Humanistic Buddhism in Southern Africa. His doctoral thesis, Affective Encounters, won the LSE Monograph Competition and is published by Bloomsbury.
Dr. Wu’s academic career includes roles such as Senior Teaching Fellow at SOAS, University of London (2016–2020). His research integrates anthropological fieldwork with interdisciplinary approaches, addressing global migration dynamics and cultural adaptation. His recent projects explore the intersection of religion, identity, and globalization in African contexts.
