Dhiren Panikker is a Visiting Lecturer in Music at Scripps College and a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at UC Riverside. His research explores improvisation and post-9/11 race and gender politics in contemporary jazz and creative music. He holds an MFA in Integrated Composition, Improvisation, and Technology from UC Irvine (2010) and a BM in Jazz Studies from CSU Fullerton (2008).
He has received awards including the Dissertation Year Fellowship, Gluck Fellowship, and Dean’s Distinguished Fellowship. An active performer, Panikker leads Trio Sangha and performs across Los Angeles. He also teaches private music lessons and conducts masterclasses in piano, theory, and composition across Southern California.
